Inspired while on a business trip to Andalucía in Spain Louise Daddy set up a new venture less than a year ago bringing Spanish, with a hint of Moroccan cooking to Beverley.
Louise says life is good on the Market in Beverley and does not miss the rat race she has swapped for Spanish Terracotta Cookware, Tableware and Paella Pans.
On returning from Spain just over a year-ago Louise, who previously worked in supply-chain management learnt her contract ended.
It was while in Spain, she got her inspiration for her new venture, two businesses named The Herb & Spice Cupboard and The Spanish Food Cupboard.
Louise told HU17.net
“I was at a spice market in Granada and purchased some spices and cooking pots. When I got back to the UK I tried out a few recipes and things sort of happened from there.”
“I made contact with the manufacturer and began to import the pans and also the herbs and spices used locally in Spain the cooking.”
Louise does not just sell cookware. She carefully puts together cooking kits that start from as little as £14 that come complete with her own unique recipe cards, Louise added;
“We have a saying in our business, ‘Everything you need other then the fresh ingredients,’ I think this sums up our cooking kits nicely.”
So why Beverley Market, Louise said to have a stall on Beverley was an easy choice for her, she has lived in Beverley for over six years and uses the market herself, she said;
“It is very nice on the Market in Beverley, and it has helped me to build a good customer base.”
“One of them who comes to see me every couple of week’s lives in Southampton. His family lives in Beverley, which is why he visits, and when he is here he buys all his spices from me.”
As well as the Market in Beverley Louise is also a regular at the Humber Bridge Farmers Market and the various food festivals in Yorkshire, including the Beverley Food Festival.
Her business also trades online, but Louise is no hurry to give up her stall on Saturday Market, she said;
“It is a great atmosphere on the market. It is a good place to meet people, and it is very personal experience for me and my customers. I keep changing recipes and keep introducing new ideas to keep things fresh something my customers like.”
Her products have been very popular with men and women of all ages. She hopes her cooking kits will help encourage people to cook from scratch and not rely on sauces in jars.
Going forward Louise is looking to add more food-based products to her already extensive range of goods and spices.
You can catch up with Louise each Saturday at her stall, which is located opposite Browns of Beverley or by visiting her web site.
Way to go Lou. Keep up the good work. Lynn, Brixton, Devon
