East Hull came from behind to knock Wath Brow Hornets off the top of the table in a thrilling game of rugby league.
The Hornets took the lead through Jason Connery, who converted his own try but East Hull were back level terms just a minute later thanks to Lee Stewart whose effort was converted by Carl Puckering.
Fran King then extended the lead for the Hornets with a try which was again converted by Connery. Trailing at half time many inside the ground would not have given East Hull a chance, but they were to prove everyone wrong in the second half.
Before Hull could settle Ian Curnow crashed over the line for the Hornets, the trusted boot of Connery once again kicked the goal giving the visitors a 10 – 18 advantage in the game.
As the game looked to be slipping away from East Hull, Aaron Pickering scored a try with Puckering adding the kick making throwing the home side a life line. On 70 minutes, Scott Partis scored allowing Puckering to pull the game level with the conversion.
With just two minutes left Puckering had a chance to win the match for his side after East Hull were awarded a penalty, but he missed his kick. Puckering did not have to wait long for a chance to redeem himself when East Hull were awarded another penalty on in the final minute making no mistake he converted the kick to give East Hull a much needed win.
