A new exhibition of oil paintings prepared specially for Creation

Based on the Greek myth of Perseus a new collection of paintings by Carol McDermott goes on show at Creation Fine Arts in Beverley from Wednesday 24th July for a month.

“Waiting for Perseus” was prepared during the last eighteen months by the Cumbrian based artist. Normally showing in London, having trained there with sponsorship by Simon Birch of Christie’s, and having work in collections worldwide Carol has connections with Yorkshire going back many years, including Sir Thomas Hewitt who owned Cannon Hall in Cawthorne around 1578.

Nigel Walker, owner and curator of Creation said

“The pictures in the show have been painted, apart from that single piece, with relevance to each other and the reference of the myth and the gallery space in mind.”

“We are delighted to host a show by an artist who normally only shows in London and has such a striking, bold and brave use of oils. The show demonstrates Carol’s mastery of the medium and energy of expression. This show is a wonderful riot of colour and ideas.”

The show runs during normal opening hours from Wednesday 234th July until Sunday 25th August. Carol herself will be present in the gallery on Saturday 27th July between 2 and 5pm to meet people and answer any questions they might have about her work.
