Team G&S Racing Kawasaki enjoyed a top weekend at Brands Hatch over the weekend when both riders rode to strong points finishes, Tom Fisher being 10th in the Superstock 600 race and Dominic Usher recording his first points finish of the season in the Superstock 1000 class with a fine 11th place.
In the Superstock 600 class Nottingham rider Tom Fisher rode through to 10th place after battling in a large group of riders for sixth throughout the 12 laps. His progress was hampered by a high speed crash in morning warm up when he lost the front at Clearways and was sent tumbling into the gravel.
The team worked well to get the bike up and running and back through scrutineering prior to the start of the race, just making it in time for Tom to take his place on the second row of the grid ahead of the warm up lap. As the race got underway Tom maintained sixth position during the first five laps but was beaten back to seventh one lap later.
As the effects of his earlier crash began to take their toll Tom lost momentum and finally completed the race in 10th place to pick up a further six championship points and consolidate his 10th place in the overall rider standings.
Tom Fisher said;
“I took a fair bit of skin off my arm in the crash and didn’t have the confidence in the front end to push too hard; but I had a good battle within the group challenging for sixth place and came away with another six championship points.”
“Credit due to my team who worked so hard to get me back out there after the crash this morning, also thanks to all the team sponsors for their continued support.”
A rejuvenated Dominic Usher from Beverley completed his qualifying in 14th place to start the Superstock 1000 race from a fourth row grid position, his best qualifying to date.
As the lights went out at the start of the 15 lap affair Dominic got away to a steady start avoiding the bumping and boring at Paddock Hill on the first lap.
He was quick to settle into his rhythm and made progress to 16th place on the fourth lap. By lap nine he had passed James East and Lee Johnston to move up into a points scoring position and on the last lap he overtook Pete Ward to claim a career best result of 11th to pick up five championship points.
Dominic Usher said; “I am delighted with my result here today. Throughout qualifying I was on the pace and it just goes to show that a good grid position makes for a good result.”
“Eleventh is my best ever result in this class and I have got myself up onto the points table. Its on to Oulton Park next and I am keen to add to my points tally there.”
The next round is at Oulton Park in Cheshire in three week’s time, August 9-11 when both riders will be hunting down top results to add to their points tally.
