AFC Tickton Pirates were just one of the teams from around the area who were at the headquarters of the East Riding County FA for Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day.

A national event the day featured every aspect of the game from matches through to coaching sessions.

Close to two hundred events were held across the country as part of the celebration of the Football League 150th anniversary showcasing the game at grassroots level.

The FA also made a donation to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, a charity he established during the last 18 months of his life.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, patron of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation said in the build to the event:

“Sir Bobby sums up everything that is great about English football, from elite success, guiding England in their best World Cup showing on foreign soil and top club honours in England, Spain, Portugal and Holland – to his love for the grassroots game and natural affinity with the fan in the street.”

“On a national and international level, his contribution to football cannot be underestimated.”
