Hearts Of Gold: Two Girls Spend Their Summer Helping BHF

The Two Terrific Turtles made up of Samantha Novis and Ellie Hickman have put others first during their school summer holidays to help out the British Heart Foundation as they take part in the Lifestyle Challenge.

Both girls have been washing cars, packing bags, dog sitting, delivering and collecting donation bags as they raise money for the worthwhile cause.

Samantha explained to HU17.net how they came to chose the charity for their Lifestyle project;

“We picked the British Heart Foundation because a relative of mine passed away with a heart condition, so what they stand for as charity is very personal to me.”

Ellie added;

“I was only too pleased to help out the British Heart Foundation, earlier in the year we took part in the BHF Jump Rope For Heart, which was a programme they ran to help youngsters skip their way to health.”

So far, the pair has collected over 170 bags, which are being stored in their parent’s garage and shed, all being well The Two Terrific Turtles will hand over the goods to the Beverley branch of the British Heart Foundation at the end of August.

In September, the plan is the pair will hand over a cheque to the British Heart Foundation when they have finished raising the money, Ellie said;

“It has not all been hard work. We have had great time. This project has kept us active, the dog sitting was the best part.”

They still have a few more hours of work ahead of them, while many have been out today the girls were packing shopping in Beverley at Heron Frozen Foods. Tomorrow they will pull on their black T-shirts and repeat the task this time at the Tesco store on Morton Lane.

Amanda who is the Assistant manager at British Heart Foundation shop in Beverley said;

“This has been a huge effort by the girls. We have been overwhelmed by their efforts and are looking forward to handover over and the conclusion of their fund-raising efforts.”
