Terrific Turtles Stun Staff At Beverley British Heart Foundation

Lifestyle team The Two Terrific Turtles have presented a cheque to the Beverley branch of the British Heart Foundation totalling more than £500.

Samantha Novis and Ellie Hickman have spent their summer holidays fund raising, distributing and collection donation bags for the British Heart Foundation.

On sunny day on the final day of their school holiday, the pair presented the store manager of the shop in Beverley, Vanessa Emerson with a cheque for £519.23 for the charity.

The amount raised by the girls will, however, increase by a lot more than the total in cash they raised, manager Vanessa told HU17.net;

“We have done a quick count up and the grand total taking into account all the 331 bags, each with an estimated retail value of £20 combined with the cash raised we think the total it is likely to be around £9K for the British Heart Foundation.”

Their efforts have left staff at the Toll Gavel store in shock, Vanessa added;

“I am stunned at what they have done, totally stunned they have done an absolutely amazing job. Everything they have raised is 100% profit for the charity, it is just incredible.”

“ They have saved us a shop a lot of money; they have shown superb organisation skills in how they have coordinated this project.”

The volume of bags collected by Samantha Novis and Ellie Hickman has also helped kick-start the Beverley British Heart Foundation shops ‘Bagathon’ month, Vanessa said;

“The Bagathon campaign is running throughout September. We as a store hand out as many bags to people as possible to generate as much stock for the shop. Samantha and Ellie have kicked off our campaign in Beverley with 331 bags, which is simply amazing.”

“All the funds that the Two Terrific Turtles have raised will go towards vital research in the fight against heart disease. On average 867 in East Yorkshire alone die coronary heart disease.”

“For two girls who are so young to go out and use their  full six-week holiday to for this project and not just sit about is quite something. We need more young people doing this kind of thing to take the fight against heart disease forward.”

The Two Terrific Turtles will now have to wait and see if they have made it through to the Lifestyle 2013 Finals, Vanessa is backing the girls to do well she said;

“I wish them all the luck and hope they make it to the final. For me personally I think they should get the top prize given all their efforts and what they have raised for the BHF.”

“I would love to see them back here in the future as part of the British Heart Foundation.”

In acknowledgement of Samantha and Ellie, great efforts through the summer holidays both girls were presented with a certificate of appreciation from the British Heart Foundation.
