Beverley RUFC U16s earned a comprehensive victory over Cleethorpes on Sunday at Beaver Park beating them 62 – 5.
Cleethorpes who were far bigger and more physical team than Beverley started the stronger of the two teams though the Beavers soon began to carve open the visitors through skilful play by their backs.
Assistant Coach Phil Rann said;
“They were massive compared to our team, what won this game for us was our superior tactics and the skilfulness of our backs, which resulted in us scoring ten tries.”
“This was a good opening game for us, and I got the chance to see all the players as they all got a run out.”
“It also showed that all the effort the lads put into pre season training was worthwhile.”
Two players picked up man of the match for their individual performances, centres Jack Ciarvin and Keanan Jones, who both scored three tries each in the game.
Rann is not getting carried away with the result, next week they hit the road as they face Wetherby, he added;
“This is a new fixture for us. I fully expect Wetherby to be a much sterner test for us, but I am confident if play well we can get the result we want.”
