Local Cubs Get To Camp Out At Fort Paull

Last Saturday almost 100 Cubs from the Beverley & Hornsea District held a sleep over at Fort Paull.

The Cubs had a chance to explore the museum and its amazing range of exhibits, try out the adventure playground and play “wide games” within the museum grounds.

As night drew in; they gathered around a traditional campfire for songs, hot chocolate and cakes before bedding down in buildings around the museum.

Some Cubs even got the opportunity to spend the night in both the Blackburn Beverley Aircraft & the Berliner Railway Carriage.

The next morning, they had the opportunity to explore the museum once more before returning home happy, though perhaps a little tired; having had a unique experience at one of the region’s leading tourist attractions.

Beverley & Hornsea District Scouts were formed in 1925 and currently has eight groups across the area; providing everyday adventure for boys and girls aged between 6 & 18.

Scouting continues to grow in popularity but unfortunately, there are around 40,000 young people on waiting lists nationwide and locally there are far more enquiries than there are places available.

If they could attract more volunteers; they could open more sections and let more local boys, and girls experience the benefits of Scouting. If you think that you could spare a few hours each month to help us then, please call on 0844 8808273 or e-mail beverleyandhornsea@humbersidescouts.org.uk.
