Beverley RUFC face a big test this weekend when they entertain high flying Rossendale at Beaver Park.
Following their disappointing defeat at Percy Park last Saturday the Beavers sit exactly halfway in the table whereas Rossendale are top. That said, Beverley have lost two games by an aggregate of only 4 points, so they are obviously not far away from converting those defeats into victories.
Head Coach Anthony Posa said speaking ahead of the game;
“We are having to learn quickly that we have to be both more patient and clinical when we are going forward. Last week, in particular the first half, we were guilty of giving the ball away way too cheaply when exerting pressure.”
“Perhaps it’s a case of last season we were able to score off fewer phases, but in National League rugby we definitely have to work harder for our rewards!”
This weekend Beverley will have the usual injury problems mixed with one or two unavailabilities, so the depth of Posa’s squad will once again be put to the test.
Already missing two or three seasoned campaigners from last years championship winning side, Beverley will be hoping to heed their coach’s words and channel their youthful enthusiasm on Saturday in their attempt to knock the lead leaders off their perch.
The side last met back in April 2012 when Beverley beat Rossendale away to set up a grandstand finish to the season.
In the same season Beverley also beat Rossendale 7 points to 5 on a bitterly cold December afternoon.
A fascinating afternoon is install at Beaver Park this weekend whatever the outcome.
