Managing Partner at QualitySolicitors Lockings, Richard Allen, will be locked in a cell at HM Prison Everthorpe on Wednesday, 16th October. His bail target is £1,000 in aid of Dove House Hospice’s ‘Lock up your boss’ fundraising initiative.
Katy Wood, fundraising coordinator at Dove House Hospice says:
“Richard is one of five corporate supporters who have agreed to be ‘locked up’ for the day alongside Dove House Hospice chairman, Eileen Goffin. There will be no use of mobile phones or devices throughout the day.”
“Therefore, we have asked our temporary prisoners to bring along names and numbers of the people they would like to call to gain sponsorship or ‘bail money’ from on a piece of paper. They will then be able to call their contacts to raise money directly, as well as drumming up sponsorship before the day.”
“We are aiming to make the day as authentic as possible in the old medical wing of the prison and we are very grateful to all of our ‘prisoners’ for giving up their time to raise funds for Dove House Hospice.”
Richard Allen says:
“I have pledged to raise £1,000 for Dove House Hospice. This is a great initiative to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
“Dove House Hospice cares for people with life limiting illnesses and with funding for just 45 days of the year, the hospice relies on fundraising campaigns such as this one to fund the £6.1 million annual running costs.”
“I will get the opportunity to find out what prison life is actually like from the offenders’ perspective. We will be provided with a prisoner’s uniform and locked in a cell with no communication with the outside world. We will receive prison lunch and take part in a number of activities throughout the day.”
“As we will not have access to mobile devices we will be using the prison phones to call our friends and business contacts for our ‘bail money’.”
