This was a very disappointing afternoon for the blue and golds on their travels to East Hull. Despite fielding, a reasonably strong line up, with only notable absentees being Nick Cross, Ben Calvert, Adam Jobling and Sam Coloeman, they just struggled to contain the opposition.
The second string for the National Conference outfit were clearly very well drilled and punished almost every mistake that Beverley made.
The visitors did well in the opening exchanges to contain the hosts who immediately went on the attack forcing several line drop-outs.
Man of the match Gavin Proctor worked overtime in defence but once the first score was on the board it sets the theme for the afternoon. The pacy home outfit added further tries to lead 30-0 at the break.
Beverley ARLC attempted to rally round in the second half. Ian Lane and Ryan Watkin tried in vane to prize open an iron-clad defence.
Furthermore, Lee Stevens never stopped grinding out the hard yards. However, whenever Beverley got some decent field position, they often threw long speculative passes which on three occasions went straight into the hand of the opposition for long range interception tries. A disappointed coach Guy Adams said;
”We were not at the races this afternoon, and we’ll regroup, discuss it and try to put things right at training on Tuesday.”
Beverley does not know who their opponents are this Saturday or if they even have a game due to a number of clubs requesting a blank weekend so they can watch England get their World Cup under-way in Cardiff against Australia.
Final Score: East Hull ‘A’ 56 Beverley ARLC 0
