Tonight will see the Beverley Lions host a giant bonfire and fire work display on the Westwood.
The event start s at 7.15pm with the lighting of the huge bonfire with the display starting at 7.45pm
Les Ford of the Beverley Lions said;
“This year all the fireworks will be Ariel ones, some travelling up to 750 feet above the pastures.”
With so many people expected the Beverley Lions are still appealing for people to come forward and help them manage the event,
Les added;
“We ran a story in the local paper asking for volunteers to help marshall the event, we only had one person come forward.”
“Anyone who can spare some time to help us out would be great, we could do with a few extra bodies to help marshal the perimeter round the fire and display area.”
Tomorrow the clean-up operation begins at 9am and again the Beverley Lions are appealing for members of the public to step up and help them out.
After each bonfire night they Lions return to pick up all the litter and more importantly the sparklers which can easily get trapped in cattle’s feet that live on the pastures.
Les added;
“It would be a lot easier if people used the bins we provide to dispose of their rubbish, we have to accept this is not always the case so have to clean it up.”
“Again anyone who can help us out this task it would be most welcome.”
