Beavers Travel To Teesdie For Match With Billingham

Beverley RUFC are on the road on Saturday for the second week running when they travel up to Teeside to face Billingham in their National League 3 fixture.

They are four places and five points ahead of Billingham in the league table and will be hopeful of starting where they left off last Saturday when they very nearly overturned a 0-26 halftime deficit to finish the game at Sale very strongly to pick up 2 bonus points in a 26-31 defeat.

They need to “get off the bus” a little more livelier and avoid making elementary mistakes early on in order to give themselves and their travelling support a little less anxious a time!!

Head Coach Anthony Posa said today;

“The improvement within our squad is there for everybody to see as week by week we adapt more and more to National League rugby.”

“The key for us all now is to turn these improvements into a more consistent run of victories.’”

The sides last met back in March of 2011 when the Beavers and Billingham played out a cliff hanger at Beaver Park. Beverley finally won that game by five points.

Posa’s squad is boosted by the return of Kris Renwick and Tom Carr who were both unavailable for the Sale game. Star winger Lee Birch will be assessed closer to Saturday after he missed last week also.

For the first time this season and perhaps in Beverley’s history, three brothers are in line to be on the field in a first team fixture at once – Mark, Paul and Tom Steadman are all included in the squad that will travel north.

Any fans wishing to make the trip are advised the coach leaves at 10.15 prompt.
