Molly Pluves Scores As Yellows Thrash Preston

Mill Lane United Yellows moved to the top of the East Riding Girls Football League table with a convincing victory against a spirited Preston side that never gave in for the entire 80 minutes.

From minute one when Tonya Storr put the Yellows into the lead after a brilliant through ball from captain Emma Johnson to the last minute when Courtney Lees completed a deserved hat rick the Yellows played some nice passing football with some clinical finishing.

Eight first-half goals were scored with the best from a superb finish from Emma Johnson after good interplay from Chloe Wheeldon, and Marie(Misty) Russell got Johnson into space, and a first-time shot from Johnson gave the Preston keeper no chance at the near post.

With wingers Tonya Storr and Chloe Wheeldon showing up well ably assisted by midfielder Morgan Nagee further goals followed and the half time whistle went with the Yellows leading eight nil. The second half began with the Yellows in control, but Preston must take great credit for never giving in and playing football until the end.

Nine-second half goals followed with the best been a 20-yard special from defender Courtney McConville and a first of the season from Molly Pluves after great support play and finishing. So the final whistle blew with a 17 nil victory to the Yellows and three more league points that puts them top of the league for the first time this season.

The Yellows can be pleased with their performance with Tonya Storr(4 goals) and Morgan Nagee(5 goals) outstanding throughout with Chloe Wheeldon, Molly Pluves and Courtney Lees showing up well with some good passing football.

Man of the match went to substitute Amy Radford, who despite missing an open goal and hitting the post with a penalty produced a performance of desire and determination with some brilliant tackling.
