Unemployment Down Again In Beverley And Holderness

Since the beginning of 2013 the number of people claiming unemployment benefit in Beverley and Holderness has been falling and is now at a record three and a half year low of just 3.1%, or 1,500 claimants.

Commenting, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart said, “This is great news for the constituency; this government has created a range of schemes for people who want to work hard and get on and I commend the job-seekers of Beverley and Holderness for seizing those opportunities.

“Three point one percent is the lowest unemployment figure in Beverley and Holderness since the Conservative Government came to office in May 2010. This is clear evidence that our economic policies and welfare reforms are working and Britain is back in business.

“We cannot afford to gamble these gains by returning to a Labour government which will spend more, borrow more and lead to higher unemployment as every Labour government has always done.”
