Beverley Town return to Humber Premier League action as they welcome Pocklington Town to the Norwood Recreation Ground this Saturday.
The champions, playing their first league fixture at in four weeks, go into the game off a 10 – 1 over Westella & Willerby and boss Dave Ricardo is very confident his side can pick all three points.
Speaking with HU17.net ahead of the game Ricardo said;
“I am sure that we can get the job done on Saturday, all we need to do is carry on playing the way we are and keep it tight at the back. There are plenty of goals in this team.”
Town are boosted by the return of Jamie Waltham and Rob Northen though will be missing Daniel Kingsley, Danny Norton and Richard Gibson.
Ricardo, however, has plenty of fire at his disposal. The arrival of youngster Matthew Start has given the gaffer lots of options up front.
He added;
“Start has come to us on loan to get more game time and match experience. He is a great talent to have in the squad.”
Pocklington, however, arrive at Norward as one of only two sides to beat the champions in their own back yard last season something that Ricardo is keen to avoid on Saturday.
This is the last game for Town before they begin a run of three fixtures that will no doubt be their most testing time in the season playing Sculcoates Amateurs twice with a match against current league leaders Reckitts AFC sandwiched in between.
Should town come through the next four games with a perfect record the champions could be top of the table going into the new year.
Ricardo and club captain Michael O’Connell will be on BBC Radio Humberside tonight for the draw of the East Riding Senior Cup.
Town will be hoping for a home tie and to avoid North Ferriby when the quarter-final draw is made live on air at 6.30pm.
