A Hull based charity, Sunshine House have a received a donation after they were declared the Beverley Building Society Charity of the Month.

Sunshine House is a unit that provides care for children aged 0-18 who have complex health care needs, learning disability or who may be end of life.

Currently the unit has nine beds and a special ‘forget me not’ room used for children who are end of their life so they can spend their last days with their family whilst receiving the support of the nurses and healthcare staff on the unit.

24 hour nursing care to children is also provided at Sunshine House so that their parents can have a well needed break to re charge their batteries.
This week Nurse Kerry Ineson was joined by student nurse Laura Whiting at the Beverley Building Society branch to collect a £250 cheque.

Laura who banks with the Beverley Building Society nominated the charity and was delighted to hear the news they had won, she told HU17.net;

“We are all really pleased, I want to say a massive thank you to every single person who voted for us, it means a lot to everyone at Sunshine House.”

Michael Plaster, Marketing Manager at the Beverley Building Society said:

“Sunshine House was put forward for our competition by one of our members who currently works for the charity.”

“As a mutual, our members have the opportunity to decide how their Society supports local charities and this is a prime example.”

“We all hope that the donation helps towards the great work the charity does in supporting local children and families in their time of need.”

The service is managed by City Health Care Partnership who provide the Unit with everything it needs, however the Unit relies on charitable donations and its Charity Smile Foundation.

The money donated will be used to by the charity to help fund the purchase of various things that will benefit the children.
