QualitySolicitors Lockings and the Beverley Christmas Lights Group have invited acclaimed best-selling author, Val Wood to turn on the Wednesday Market Christmas lights in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her award winning début novel, The Hungry Tide.
Accompanied by live musicians singing Christmas songs and St Mary’s Primary School Choir, Val will turn on the cone tree Christmas lights in Beverley’s Wednesday Market as part of this year’s Christmas Lights switch-on event on Friday 29th November.
Last year the QualitySolicitors Lockings purchased a special cone tree for the Beverley Christmas Lights group to help the Wednesday Market area of the town sparkle throughout the festive period. This year they have worked closely with these volunteers to choose a popular local person to mark the occasion and Val Wood was the top of everyone’s list.

Throughout the evening from 3pm the Ice Rink will be open in Saturday Market
- 5.00pm – The Winter Fair Opens – Saturday Market
- 6:15pm – Service and Lights Switch On – Market Cross
- 6:30pm – Live music and festive treats in Wednesday Market
- 6.45pm – Lights Switch On – Wilkinson Corner
- 7.00pm – Lights Switch On – Angel Cross
- 7:15pm – Lights Switch On – Wednesday Market
- 7.45pm – Outdoor Cinema Showing – Saturday Market
