Beverley Town will boss Dave Ricardo will welcome back a number of players for this weekend’s crunch match against Humber Premier League Leaders Reckitts AFC.
The champions are boosted by the return of Jamie Forrester, Matty Sharp, Jonny Ricardo, Rob Northen and Ben Thompson.
Town go into the game three points behind the leaders knowing a win will see them move top with games in hand, but it will not be easy. Speaking ahead of the match at the Norwood Recreation Ground Ricardo said;
“The second of three massive games from us, last week at Sculcoates we ground out a good win and I will be looking for more of the same this Saturday.”
Reckitts who have occupied the top spot for most of the season could extend their lead to six points but Ricardo feels the side from Hull are not the threat they used to be, he added;
“Although a draw would be acceptable I am very confident we are good enough to win the game and move to the summit of the table.”
“They are of course a good side but we are a more youthful team with plenty of goals in us as.”
“REckitts will not be as mobile as us which should help us create chances and score goals.”
“At the back we are solid, our squad as a whole is far stronger this year then it was last season.”
Ricardo will not be starting after last week’s antics that saw him almost throw away the game when a ‘moment of madness’ saw him give away a penalty.
However the gaffer has plenty of confidence in his lads and thinks should Town win it they will have the advantage in the race for the championship, he said;
“If we can get maximum points I certainly think it will have a big impact on who will win the title this season.”
“We are in a very good position at the moment and I feel we can do the job and move top.”
Ricardo is also keen to encourage people to get down to Norwood and cheers the lads on he said;
“Support this season has been really good, it gives everyone a boost when people turn up to watch.”
“Saturday is a massive game and let’s hope we can get more people to help give us the edge.”
