A Beverley skincare expert, Dr Katerina Steventon, has launched a personalised facial acupressure routine for the increasing number of people who look and feel tired and find it difficult to relax and sleep.
According to The Sleep Council’s Great British Bedtime Report*, lack of sleep is one of the most common health issues of our times and one that is made even worse by increased work and life commitments associated with the festive period, a time when people like to look and feel radiant.
Acupressure is an alternative medicine technique that is similar in principle to acupuncture. It is based on the concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine that facilitates the flow of energy through meridians in the body.
Dr. Steventon’s FaceWorkshops routine takes into account an individual’s health, lifestyle, emotions and personality to create a bespoke chart of facial massage and acupressure.
Of the initiative, Dr Steventon said;
“47% of Britons say that stress or worry keeps them awake at night and that impacts on how they look in the morning. A good night’s sleep is vital for the body’s ability to repair and to manage the elevated levels of stress at this time of year. Being happy with our appearance is very closely linked to self esteem and taking care of our face by making time to relax before bed is a pleasant experience. The routines is designed to make us look and feel better and also improve sleep patterns.”
Dr. Steventon is delighted with the feedback that she has received from people who have tried it. Comments included; “I really enjoyed doing the massage and found it very relaxing, almost hypnotic”,
“I liked the fact that it was tailored to me – the benefits were greater that way” and “It is particularly useful for people who have difficulty sleeping because they find it hard to switch off from the cares and problems of their daily lives.”
The Personalised Acupressure routine comprises a consultation questionnaire and a bespoke self treatment chart. It is available from http://www.faceworkshops.com/acupressure and costs £30.
A published author of several scientific skincare papers, Czech Republic born Dr. Steventon uses her PhD in skin science combined with her professional facial therapy training to provide her FaceWorkshops clients with a bespoke package of scientifically validated products combined with facial therapies in the tranquil Garden Retreat salon in Walkington.
Before establishing the independent skincare consultancy FaceWorkshops in 2009, Dr. Steventon’s experience spanned several years and continents – from prestigious skincare brand, La Prairie in her native Czech Republic to Shiseido in Japan and Smith and Nephew wound healing in Hull.
I have used some of Dr Steventons techniques and have had her facials. Amazing the difference it has made to me. A great, natural alternative to other offerings. Great article!!
