MATCH REPORT: Beverley Town Vs Hornsea Town

Beverley entertained Hornsea, who are currently sitting safely mid table in the Humber Premier League.

The games between them in the last two seasons have been tight affairs, but the Champions were hoping to keep up the momentum from the previous week.

Beverley Town started brightly and were in front within the first two minutes, when slack defending from the away team, led to Rob Northen pouncing and scoring from a very close range.

To their credit within a few minutes, Hornsea equalised when a slip from Asa Pardoe led to the away team striker finishing smartly to bring the scores level.

This gave Beverley a spark as they now piled forward and were back in front again when Northern made it two with a smart finish.

However, Beverley suffered a blow when they lost both Jamie Forrester and Matty Start to injury within the first twenty minutes of the match as they were replaced by Dan Kingsley and Danny Norton.

After a re-shuffle in formation, Beverley were now well in control with the away team offering little threat. Northen completed a first-half hat-trick when he nodded home from a Mike O’Connell corner.

Town came out in the second half at a furious pace with Nathan White totally dominating the midfield. They made it four, when Norton played a lovely little through ball for Andrew Stott to hold of the defender and dispatch a left shot into the corner.

Hornsea were struggling to get out of their own half and Northen notched his fourth and eleventh goal of the season.

It became six when O’Connell steadied himself to drive home, but straight from the restart on the break Hornsea grabbed a consolation after a good run into the box for the striker to slot home.

That wasn’t the end of the scoring though as centre back Pardoe made amends from his earlier error to finish.

In truth, it could have been many more without some good saves from the away team goalkeeper.

Beverley keep the pressure on the teams above them with games in hand and have boosted their goal difference considerably scoring 21 goals in three games.
