Blossom Family Serving The Community With Its Work With Children Blossom Family Serving The Community With Its Work With Children

Blossom Family is a not for profit organisation that serves the whole community through its unique work with children. The aim is to bring the ‘young’ and ‘old’ together to grow, love and respect each other and to work together to develop the area they live in.

It is a not-for-profit children’s community centre, where children of all ages and their parents/carers can come and enjoy a range of activities in all weathers and for all ages.

The centre offers separate rooms to relax, be entertained or take part in activities. Coming soon is a drink and snack area for refreshments, second hand shop for children’s products and the sale of new products via Truly Madly Baby and Truly Madly kid.

The various activities include snooker, table tennis, pool, air hockey, music, dance, drama and film, getting involved in creative art and craft and all round therapeutic relaxation, to unwind and chill out.

However without the help of fundraising this centre cannot continue. “It has successfully run since November with pre-schoolers but we really want to open in January to 5yrs – 19 years too”.

Funding has been applied for from many different trusts and charites but because Blossom Family is not catering for just one social group (Disabilities, poverty, set age agroup)  most have said no.  £520 has been raise via this source and also £363 from a fundraising evening but over 50 trusts have said no including the big name trusts.

A funding advice centre said that this will also be because nobody knows where Beverley is on the English map and so can’t be in need of help.  When mentioned it was by Hull they said that that is also the reason, Hull gets enough money.  The advice left was to target local businesses for support to carry the centre as they will be the beneficiaries in the long run from well turned out young adults.

“Some larger chains have asked for a private meeting with us and our fingers are crossed that they may be able to help get us started.  Banks are only interested in lending once we have been running a successful account for four months, some a year.  One bank said if we could get half they could possibly lend s the other half”

“We will be willing to put the logo to any company on our website, Letter heads and Uniform that sponsor us”.

Blossom Family has a list of items they need that will also lower this overhead ranging from cushions, café chairs and tables, DVD and surround sound, printer, paper slicer, Soft Play equipment, Desk Top computers, Book Shelves, Fridge, Ju Jitsu Mats, Vending Machines, baby Changing Unit, Circle clothes rail to rent, rates, insurances and staffing costs.

Any help would be greatly received we would like to invite adults and over 11’s to view our Website or Face book page for our opening times.  6.30-9pm are our times for over 11’s only.
