The hugely popular Beverley 10k, sponsored by Hall Construction, sold all 1400 places for the 2014 race by 3pm last Saturday – the entry system having only opened at 9am earlier in the day. The organising team at Beverley Athletic Club would like to have a larger field, however the current race-route and safety considerations mean that a strict limit on the number of runners has to be imposed. This year’s will be the 21st race, and will be held on Sunday 11th May, at 11.15.
There are still places available on the popular and well-supported 2k Fun Run on the same day, sponsored by B&A Scaffolding. The Fun Run begins at 10.15. Entry is online from the Beverley AC website.
Beverley AC’s next race in the diary is at Walkington on Friday 11th July 2014 (entries will open in May). And on Sunday 28th September the second College Canter will be held at Bishop Burton, following the successful launch of this event last year.
Local runners and walkers can also participate in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile 2014. Raising money for the charities supported by Sport Relief, the event is organised by Lucas Meagor of Beverley AC, and is based at the Hurn on Beverley Racecourse, on Sunday 23rd March. Courses of 1, 3 and 6 miles are available. The first Sport Relief Mile in Beverley was held in 2012, attracting 397 runners and raising over £7500.
