Lotto Fundraising For Local School

Friends of St Nicholas Primary School, Holmechurch Lane, Beverley are working in partnership with the local hospice to raise much needed funds for their school through a Lottery partnership scheme.

The scheme enables the Friends Association of St Nicholas Primary to provide a regular and sustainable source of income which allows the friends to plan future projects benefitting the children at St Nicholas Primary, while also giving those that support the opportunity to win up to £10,000 every week.

Dove House Hospice has run its own weekly draw since 1996, generating over £5 million towards the annual running costs of the services provided to local people within Hull and the East Riding living with a life limiting illness. Dove House has set up the scheme to share the successes of the Lottery as an income generation tool and help those charities and groups who would like to offer such a popular form of fundraising but who cannot afford the initial set up costs or the ongoing administration involved with such a scheme.

Laura Sadler, Lottery Manager, said “We are proud to be able to support St Nicholas Primary School in their fundraising. Playing the weekly draw via the partnership scheme allows players to support two local worthy causes for just £1 a week while having the chance to win anything from £10 to £10,000. It’s a Win, Win!”

Sharrin Powers, School Governor, said “We have been looking for a regular source of income that can allow us to continue in our fundraising goals to enhance the children’s educational experience and to improve the school facilities”.

“The Friends Association regularly subsidise school trips and provide water bottles and book bags for new children to welcome them to the school, provide leavers dictionaries for Year 6 and help towards refurbishment. Without the support of the local community, including parents, we would not be able to continue to provide this for the school children attending.

St Nicholas Primary is celebrating its centenary year and to help mark this occasion the Friends Association of St Nicholas would like to ask those who are interested in supporting the school as well as participating in the draw ring 0300 330 1500, pick up a leaflet from the school or visit the school website where you can set up a direct debit to guarantee your entry each week.
