Government Support For High Streets Welcomed By MP

Graham Stuart

The Government has announced plans to help our local high streets grow, modernise and adapt to changing retail habits.

These measures include cutting taxes for small businesses, capping annual indexation increases, doubling small business rate relief and the reduction of retail red tape. Plans have also been announced to make high streets more consumer friendly, by calling for an end to unreasonable parking enforcement.

Graham Stuart MP said,

“This is great news not only for small businesses in Beverley and Holderness, but for the entire country. The high street is the traditional centre of the community, and the economic engine that drives it.”

“Small businesses employ 47 percent of people who work in the private sector. This Government understands that, and is committed to reducing red tape and the tax burden imposed on small businesses.”

“Since the Conservatives came into power in 2010, 1.4 million new private sector jobs have been created and we have returned economic growth to this country, benefiting millions of families.”
