Nicholson Returns As Town Host Cave At Norwood

Humber Premier League Champions Beverley Town will welcome back keeper Adam Nicholson for their must win game against North Cave on Saturday.

Nicholson’s return will give Town a boost ahead of their match with local rivals Cave who have a history of making life difficult for the Champions.

Tyler Collishaw is also available while midfielder Nathan White has managed to shake off an injury he sustained in his rear during last weekend’s cup exploits.

Those who will be missing include Jamie Waltham, Asa Pardoe and Ryan Nichols, while Jonny Ricardo remains a doubt ahead of the game on Saturday.

Given the club’s recent success in knock out competitions Beverley Town find themselves 18 points off the pace but have seven games in hand on the current leaders Reckitts AFC.

When the sides met back in September Town beat Cave to go top of the table thanks to two second half goals from Waltham and Rob Northen.

Speaking ahead of the match with North Cave at the Norwood Recreation Ground David Ricardo said;

“I am anxious for us to get back to the bread and butter of the Humber Premier League. For us as a club the main priority is to end the season as champions and retain our title.”

“Our worst threat on Saturday will be our own attitude, it needs to be right as North Cave have the quality players that can hurts us.”

“As a team it is important for us that we keep the winning habit going. Over the coming month we have got to play eight league fixtures which will give us the chance to close the gap between us and Reckitts.”

Within those eight games there are two matches that will see Beverley face teams who they believe are title rivals. Goole Town will visit Norwood while Town will face a tricky away day against Reckitts.

Ricardo however remains optimistic that that his side can retain their crown, he said;

“The destiny of the championship is in our  own hands, three points on Saturday takes us a step closer to that goal.”
