Beverley Town Thrash Scarborough At Norwood

Beverley Town have closed the gap at the top of the Humber Premier League for the second week running after they thrashed Scarborough Athletic 5 – 0.

On a blustery day at the Norwood Recreation Ground Town fielded a team that featured a number of changes but they were still too strong for the Seadogs.

Town cruised into a four goal league thanks to a Matty Start first half hat trick and a goal from Mike Dixon. Danny Norton completed the rout adding a fifth goal in the second half.

Manager Dave Ricardo said after the game;

“I was impressed with the attitude and quality of the players and was really please we could rotate the team and still keep a clean sheet.”

With Reckitts AFC only managing the a draw against Goole Untied a side the Champions beat easily last, week Town are just 13 points behind the leaders and have six games in hand.

Saturday’s win is the perfect spring board for Town who will look to reach the East Riding Senior Cup final of Tuesday, Ricardo said;

“The whole club is raring to go now for Tuesday’s semi final against Bridlington Town at Roy west centre.”

“I honestly feel we have a real chance of making the final for the first time in the club’s history. It’s going to be a hell of a game with lots of incidents and good-quality football.”

Beverley will need to be at their very best when they face Bridlington who play their football in the Northern Counties League.

The Seasiders go into Tuesday’s semi final in good form having lost just twice in their last ten league games.

Final Score: Beverley Town 5 Scarborough Athletic Reserves 0
