Beverley RUFC face Burnage RUFC in the penultimate home game of the season at Beaver Park on Saturday, Kick-off 3.p.m. When the sides last meet Beverley shared the spoils as the sides drew 16-16.
The match has no sponsor but a full house is guaranteed since it is the Club’s annual Ladies Day and the event is always well supported with the ladies enjoying the opportunity to bring a bit of glamour into the club.
The Beavers will be hoping to forget the frustration of last Saturday’s defeat at the hands of Bradford & Bingley when, despite enjoying 75% possession, they managed to literally throw the advantage away when over ambitious passing lead to no fewer than 3 interception tries costing 21 out of the Bees’ 32 points.
Nevertheless the hosts are an extremely hospitable bunch and if the shock result helps them survive in National 3, none will be more pleased than the Beverley faithful who travelled over to Bingley and were royally entertained as usual.
Following their Championship winning season last year, no-one could of foreseen the number of players lost to the club this year for various reasons.
So the fact that this season Beverley will finish in an extremely respectable position in the table no matter what happens in the remaining games, means that Head Coach Anthony Posa, captain James Holland, and all the players and coaching staff can rightly feel proud of their achievement, especially whilst playing some entertaining and exciting rugby along the way.
The final selection for this Saturday will be made on Thursday night after training, with Posa likely to be resting Cameron Hudson and Alex Keeton who will be involved for Yorkshire Under 20s in their National Quarter Final the next day at Castle Park, Doncaster against East Midlands.
