MaruMarket and The Chequers Micro Pub have joined forces so people in Beverley, and the surrounding areas can enjoy Real Cask Ale by having it delivered to your door.
The independent online shopping service, MaruMarket allows people to have groceries from local businesses shipped to their home and competes directly with the home delivery service offered by the supermarket giants.
John Cant the man behind the MaruMarket told HU17.net;
“For a while I have been wanting to add alcohol to our portfolio of goods we already supply through the website. Teaming up with The Chequers Micro Pub means we can do this while still supporting local businesses.”
Ian Allott who opened The Chequers Micro Pub just short of a year ago has seen his business grow and feels the link up with MaruMarket as good opportunity, he said;
“I really like what John is doing and want to give him as much support as possible. After a lot of research, I finally found a way we can transport Cask Ale to customers in four pint bags.”
Consumers will be asked to leave a deposit for the bag, a bit like in times gone by where you would leave deposits on glass bottles, but if you don’t want to do that there are other options too, Ian said;
“John is also going to have a selection of bottled ales from local brewers like World Top and Great Newsome, both of which are based in East Yorkshire.”
“Carry out 4 pint bags of Cask Ale will also be available from the bar, and they have information printed on them about how they can order them from MaruMarket.”
MaruMarket was started in January 2013 and has enjoyed great success. The partnership between the two Beverley Businesses allows MaruMarket to do something different to their competitors, John said;
“We have been missing not having drinks for a long time, in Ian, who is a beer geek and The Chequers Micro Pub, I have found the perfect partner and look forward to growing this part of the business.
