Beverley Arts Trust are to hold a vintage, record and craft fair which will be held at Cottingham Civic Hall on Sunday 11th May 2014 10am to 4pm.
The event will be an ideal opportunity to treat yourself to a cup of tea and a piece of home-made cake, whilst browsing the vintage stalls and crafts, and looking for that long lost vinyl LP to complete your collection
Retro Rockin is a combination of the things we love – records – vintage – tea & cake – music – crafts – and we hope that you will love them too.
This event will be a celebration of all things retro that you can come and enjoy and then take some of it away with you. It will also be a great opportunity to meet the people who offer products with a bit of individuality and which treasure our past.
Vinyl records are being rediscovered by all generations and more and more musicians are starting to press vinyl once more. Our Record Sales will give you a chance to hunt out that missing record in your collection, discover the joys of listening to vinyl, or just enjoy great music.
Retro, short for retrospective, or “vintage style” is an appreciation or imitation of the style of a previous era. Vintage clothes are generally from the 1920s to 20 years ago, and these are clothes that you can wear and appreciate. Vintage furniture and ornaments are less precious than antiques, but just as lovely.
Many people are having a go at making crafts, cooking and sewing for themselves, family and friends and you can come and see skilled crafts people and the crafts that they have made. Hull Scrapstore are also providing craft activities for all ages, for which there may be a small charge.
They are also promoting up-cycled craft where you take something that was once loved but is now unwanted and turning it into something better and more valued.
Up-cycling is a bit of a lost art – previous generations would have made beautiful things such as patchwork quilts out of fabric from clothes and remnants.
The Retro Rockin vintage, record and craft fair is held in Cottingham Civic Hall, on Sunday 11th May 2014 10am to 4pm. Entrance is £1, students and children are free.
