Beverley Beck Charity Raft Race Get Your Entries In Now

Organisers of the annual Beverley Beck charity raft race are reminding would-be crews to get their entries in early.

Now in its third year, the event has grown in popularity with 13 rafts already provisionally booked to take part in this July’s race in support of local charity N.U.R.S.E.

Jane Tattam , chairman of N.U.R.S.E., told HU17.net: “We started the event as we wanted to do something different for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and have carried it on as people had such a good time.

“There has been a lot of support from the council and local businesses in the past couple of years and we are again looking for sponsors for this year’s event.

“Each year we have seen more rafts take part in the event, and the crews come from all over, including teams from local pubs.

“This year we have had a lot of interest from new teams, including the fire-fighters at Beverley Fire Station who are exploring the possibilities of entering a team.”

Last year’s race was won by a Beverley team called Blood Sweat & Beers on raft made of ‘bits and bobs’ as only seven of the ten rafts entered made it across the finish line.

It is thought that Blood Sweat & Beers, along with their skipper Pete Norton, will be entering a raft on the Saturday 26th July event as they look to become the first crew to retain their title.

Anyone wishing to enter a team in this year’s raft race should contact Jane on 01482 872596 to request an information pack.
