Beverley Town have moved top of the Humber Premier League for the first time this season after they beat Pocklington Town 3 – 1.
A brace of goals from Daniel Kingsly Jnr and single strike Luke Thompson in the first half ensured Beverley got the three points needed to move them above Reckitts AFC in the table.
The win caps off a good few days for the club which has seen them go top of the league and win the Northern Counties Senior Cup.
With such a big advantage with goal difference over Reckitts a win for Beverley over St Andrews on Saturday would all but seal their second title as many seasons.
Beverley Town’s Ross Cording said
“We played really well, after we fell a goal behind we bounced back and totally controlled the game.”
“Our central defence was outstanding, Ryan Nichols and Dane Mortimer were a once again a different class dealing with everything that cam at them.”
“Pocklington never really trouble us and the game was done and dusted in the first half.
Manager Dave Ricardo played a full 90 minutes and Cording was full of praise for him saying;
“He put in a good shift in the middle of the park, his legs started to go a bit but over all for a veteran he did not look out place in the game.”
“Yesterday was a credit to the team they settled into the match early and as everyone done their job properly it made it easier for everybody.”
Ricardo himself said after the game;
“Our performance was good and despite missing players it was in my eyes a convincing performance that we won easily.”
