Beverley Leisure Centre To Host Walking Football Sessions

Beverley Leisure Centre

The Sport, Play and Arts Service is launching a National Football Initiative locally on Wednesday, 7 May.

Walking Football sessions is going to take place at the Beverley Leisure Centre on the outside pitch starting at 11am until 12noon.

The weekly sessions are free of charge and are supported by the East Riding County F.A and are part of the Mars Just Play National Scheme which we want the East Riding of Yorkshire to be part of.

The sessions are targeted for people over 50 and aim to provide Fun Sociable Football games and skills, which will improve fitness for those who maybe previously played and would like a chance to get their boots on once again.

The sessions will be led by a Adam Gibson from the Sport, Play and Art Service who will provide casual organised walking football games and accommodate various fitness levels, providing low – mid intensity matches ideal for those who have not played for a long time or would just like to get a bit fitter and meet new people.

Adam who will be leading the sessions recently visited a Walking Football session in Grimsby and was amazed by the feedback given by participants. The session had a range of ages attending from 50 to 74 who had suffered from a variety of health conditions including strokes and heart problems and various other injuries. One participant said:

“I thought I would never kick a ball again and walking football provided me with a new lease of life”.

No matter what skill or fitness level you are we would strongly recommend you give Walking Football a try.

For more information or to book on to the session on Wednesday, 7 May please call Adam Gibson (01482) 392528
