Jonathan Fisher tasted defeat for first time as captain of Beverley Town Cricket Club as they were beaten by Doncaster Town in the National Cup.
Batting first Beverley set the visitors a total of just 42 runs to with game, something the side from the Premier Division knocked off with ease for the loss of one wicket.
Those who were there witnessed the best spell of bowling ever at the Norwood Recreation Ground from Doncaster’s James Stuart with figures of 7-24 off eight overs.
The defeat will come as no real surprise given the difference in class in the sides, in recent time Doncaster have faced Goole a side that ply at the same level as Beverley and they only managed to score 36 runs against one of the top teams in the Premier League.
After the match Fisher simply said;
“We were outplayed by a superior opposition, Stuart caused all all sorts problems with his speed and accuracy.”
