St Mary’s Ward Councillor Irene Charis has welcomed the work done by the East Riding Business Centre located at Annie Reed Road, Beverley, to help local businesses.
The purpose built Business Centre provides secure, professional and well managed office space and workshops on easy in, easy out terms, which is ideal for start-up and small businesses. Alongside this it also offers regular networking workshops in business planning, sales and marketing and finance which are free to attend for East Riding residents.
One recent success story at the Council run centre is 24 year old Jordan Bateman who set up business as an electrical contractor initially out of his bedroom. After buying a van, he soon got a good reputation for offering good quality products and good customer service. After three months of business Jordan was able to employ his first worker, and 2 months later he was able to lease the smallest unit at the Beverley Business Centre.
After just 5 months at the business centre Concept Electricals has now moved to the largest unit available. The flexible nature of the tenancy has meant that Jordan could move into the different units as his business grew and his needs changed and he now has the space to grow his business further.
Cllr Irene Charis said:
“It’s great to see such success stories in Beverley that benefit the town and its economy, and it just goes to show that even in tough economic times there are new ventures that are flourishing. In the last year alone the Centre has helped to start over 70 new businesses.
The services and facilities offered are an asset to local businesses so I wanted to promote the centre to residents who may not know what is available or even that it exists”
