Beverley boozer the Oddfellows Arms has closed its doors for the final time as a pub.
Located on Eastgate in Beverley the boozer has been purchased by a group of local investors who are converting the public house into a living accommodation.
This weekend regulars and a few locals enjoyed in a pint in the pub for the final time.
Its change of use did attract some criticism from beer lovers however it is worth noting although the pub is closing new night spots have opened in Beverley replacing the pubs that are being closed.
The pub industry has been in decline for many years now, the smoking ban and other factors like extended drinking hours, cheap alcohol from supermarkets have all be blamed at one time or another.
That is another of Beverleys traditional pubs gone to the wall. they are decreasing at an alarming rate. This has all occurred since the government in it’s infinite wisdom made the breweries sell off their sure of properties.
