Dove House Hospice is set to recognise the contributions of volunteers with their annual Volunteer Awards.
The local hospice is planning a night to remember on Thursday 5th June 2014, to recognise the hard work, input and achievements of those individuals that go above and beyond to ensure that Dove House can continue to provide a valuable service to the community.
The evening will be held at Lazaat Hotel and Restaurant, Cottingham from 7.00pm, featuring a host of awards, food and entertainment.
The evening of celebration has also been kindly sponsored by a number of local businesses, including Lemon Clean as main sponsor, who have pledged their support to each award category.
Vicky Doyle, Director of Lemon Clean, said: “Having attended the Dove House Hospice Volunteer Awards last year as an award sponsor, I was keen to support this event going
forward and thrilled to be given the opportunity for Lemon Clean to be overall sponsor of such an amazing event.
“To be part of the evening will be a great privilege and meeting and mixing with all the different volunteers is truly inspiring.
“The awards night is a real acknowledge of all the commitment and hard work the volunteers put in throughout the year.”
One of the eleven awards during the evening, the ‘Teamwork to Dreamwork Award’ recognises great teamwork from a group working in a department. Shortlisted for the award are the
Beverley Dyer Lane, Swabys Yard and the former Wednesday Market shops who received several nominations from members of the public who visited the shops.
The team were praised for being very approachable, cooperative, creating a friendly atmosphere for shoppers and always going out of their way to help if needed.
Simon Coates, manager of the Beverley shops, says: “We simply could not survive without the help and support provided by volunteers, who give their time and energy so selflessly.
Our volunteers are essential in everything we do, and with that in mind, it is fantastic to have the opportunity to thank them for their efforts.”
Anyone over the age of 16 is eligible to volunteer for Dove House. There are a variety of roles available from the Day Therapy and In Patient Units, to the Fundraising or Lottery Departments and Retail shops. Last year, the Hospice’s volunteers saved around £1.2m in wages by giving their valuable time for free.
