Skipper Sarah McDowell led the way with 49 not out but it was the bowlers who restricted Ben Rhydding to 107 for 8 in their 20 overs that made things a lot easier for the batters.
Beverley Town Cricket Club Ladies lost the toss and were elected to field. Ben Rhydding started their innings picking up a steady flow of runs, but Beverley soon struck dismissing Sunderland for 7 from Halloran’s accurate bowling.
Captain Katie Wynn then joined Spivey at the crease and through patient batting increased the score line finding gaps in the field until Moriarty struck with a superb catch off her own bowling. Wickets then fell at a regular pace with catches taken and accurate bowling and Ben Rhydding edged the score up to 107.
With bowlers Amy Halloran 3 for10, Abbie Moriarty 3 for 22 and Nicola Knapton 2 for 16 being the wicket takers along with Hannah Matthews 12 runs off her 7 overs, Beverley saw a strong bowling performance.
Beverley then took to the field to chase down the target Skipper Sarah McDowell led the way with 49 not out and Laura Wilson with her 36 not out helped her captain secure victory within 19 overs. Having only lost Hayley Butts during the inning playing onto her wicket.
Beverley Ladies do not have a match now for 3 weeks because of the women’s county game fixtures which is frustrating but practice will continue on Tuesday evenings at Norwood between 6pm and 8pm weather permitting. New players are always welcome to come and join us.
