Headway Voted Charity Of The Month For May

Headway Hull and East Riding have been nominated Charity of the Month for May in the Beverley Building Society’s competition.

Lesley Saunders, Secretary of Headway Hull and East Riding came into the Beverley’s branch today to collect the £250 prize money.

Headway Hull and East Riding is the local branch for the national Headway charity that provides information and support for those suffering with a brain related injury.

Each year, around one million people attend hospital in the UK following head injury but many more go unreported and are not assessed by medical professionals. Headway work hard to ensure that these people have information and support readily available.

Lesley Saunders, Secretary of Headway Hull & East Riding said:

“We are delighted to be voted Charity of the Month by Beverley Building Society and very grateful to whoever put us forward.
The money will help us to continue supporting people with brain injury, their families and carers.”

“We send a Newsletter to around 350 people each month and hold a monthly meeting/event and also meet for coffee and a chat.”

Everyone is welcome to join us and if you would like to receive the Newsletter just contact myself on 07538319716 or email headwayhull@talktalk.net.”

Michael Plaster, Marketing Manager at the Beverley Building Society said:

“The Charity of the Month competition has been a perfect way for us to give our members the chance to decide which charities their Society supports.”

“If anybody would like to nominate a charity to be included into our competition, please email me at michael.plaster@beverleybs.co.uk or call 01482 881510.”

The Beverley Building Society’s Charity of the Month Campaign is now in its third year of running and has so far donated a total of £7,250 to a total of 29 different local charities.
