Atakan Durna a time served barber who is now trading in the Georgian Quarter says opening his new shop in Beverley is a dream come true.

Atakan who lives in Hessle opened his new business, Beverley Gents Real Barber Shop this week after falling in love with Beverley, he said;

“I have been cutting hair my entire life. I have been living in Hessle for 10 years but have always wanted to open a shop in Beverley as it is such a beautiful place.”

“When this shop came up, I grabbed the chance with both hands, I cannot begin to tell you how pleased I am to be working and running a business in such a lovely town.”

Atakan shop is unlike any other in Beverley, having learnt his trade in Turkey, he is bringing a hint of the Mediterranean to his work and to the heart of the historic town of Beverley.

He said;

“What I am offering here is a complete grooming experience, from hair cuts through to cut throat shaving. I will take care of all that unwanted hair on the cheeks and in your ears using some very special techniques that are used in Turkey.”

The shop which is located at North Bar Within is open seven days a week, no appointment is necessary though for gents who need to plan, they can book in advance.

Atakan added;

“I have some other unique ways in which I approach male grooming, after a shave I have hot towels that help clear the skin and the sinuses and finish off with a special lemon aftershave that helps refresh the skin.”

Since opening his doors this week the feedback from customers has been good he said;

“There have been a few people through the door who were interested to see what I have to offer, they really liked their experience and have assured me they will be back.”

“I hope the men in Beverley will come and try out my services, once they come to see me I am sure they will also return after experiencing my traditional approach to male grooming.”
