College Releases Animated Walkthrough Of New Beverley Campus

Prospective students can today get their first look inside East Riding College’s new £14m Beverley campus.

An animated “walkthrough” now available online takes viewers on a computer-generated tour based on a detailed artist’s impression of the building.

The tour begins outside before entering via the main entrance and taking in the three-storey atrium, an open space in which learners can work, eat and relax.

It then explores areas such as the hair and beauty salons, learning resource centre, Energy Technology Centre and a number of classrooms.

The final shot zooms out from the roof of the campus, showing its position close to Beverley Minster and the railway station.

The four-storey building will form part of the wider Flemingate redevelopment project and will open to learners in September 2015.

Hull firm Houlton has now begun work on site, with construction planned for completion in July 2015.

Principal Derek Branton said:

“We are delighted to be able to step inside our new Beverley campus and explore some of the excellent facilities students of all ages will be able to learn in from September 2015.”

“The animated walkthrough really gives an impression of the quality and variety of facilities on offer, from classrooms to IT rooms and from a provision for businesses to services for the public, such as our travel agency, restaurant and hair and beauty salons.”

The new campus will feature 30 teaching rooms with specialist IT facilities and a large Learning Resource Centre with access to a wide range of digital and printed reference materials.

It will also feature industry-standard hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, a restaurant and a travel agency, which will provide realistic training facilities for students and be open to paying members of the public.

One key element will be the Energy Technology Centre, which will provide facilities for small to medium enterprises, corporate support services and links to training across a range of business, energy and environmental services.
