Beverley Town Dynamos Win On Penalties

Beverley Town Dynamos won a tense penalty shoot out against Pelican Utd in the final of the Costello tournament last weekend.

They had reached the final having breezed through their group games with comfortable victories without conceding. In the semi-final, they achieved another shutout as they turned on the style with five unanswered wonder goals worthy of the world cup itself!

The final was always going to be made of tougher stuff though and the Dynamos found themselves a goal down early on after a defensive mix up.

From that point on, however, they controlled the match throughout and were confidently popping the ball around just waiting for the opening. When it came it was a blink, and you’ll miss it moment – a thunderous left foot strike from distance by Jacob Galloway that gave their keeper no chance, 1-1.

Town’s momentum and domination continued, but their opponents held on and managed to stretch the game right through to the end of extra time. Penalties would decide the victors.

After 5 penalties each it was still all even, and the situation became sudden death. Both teams scored with their first takers so the pressure was on – but step up Towns Jack Cutler who coolly slotted home to give Dynamos the advantage.

Then the moment of truth, having been redundant for most of the day keeper Zac Whitaker calmly guessed the right way and saved strongly down to his right to give Beverley Town their deserved tournament victory.

A brilliant team performance throughout especially for new boys Sam Jackson, Robbie Lapping, Cameron Hind and George Reading enjoying their further integration into the side and sampling Dynamo silverware for the very first time.
