The Game Bird: We Are Magic!

Great food, good beer and how a pub should be, that is what people are saying about The Game Bird on Holme Church Lane in Beverley.

Purchased by the new owners back in November 2013, the pub has gone through a complete refit that has seen the pub updated with a quality restaurant and hotel added to what is a now a very smart venue.

As new customers start to pass through its doors the reviews, they are leaving on top web sites like Trip Advisor mean The Game Bird is fast earning a reputation for great hospitality and good value for money.

Over the past few months, they say their trade has continued to increase and is often fully booked up with as people come for an evening out.

Live music on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons also help boost their bookings as does the appearance of the resident magician who goes table to table wowing the dinners at while they eat.

One of the men behind the business Wayne Low said;

“So far we have had great feedback. We have a great number of regulars and repeat business, and we are shortly to launch our new summer menu.”

“The Magician was introduced as it was something I saw in a hotel restaurant abroad and wondered how it would be received in England, and as everyone likes it, we will keep doing it.”

Although The Game Bird has changed a lot from its days when it was known as the Grove Hill Pub the new owners are keen to retain their links to the local people.

They are working hard to uphold these values, while adding some much-needed services to the town that is still lacking in high end leisure facilities.
Wayne added;

“We wanted a good community pub, serving good home-cooked produce in a nice environment with comfortable rooms at a sensible price. Beverley is short of good-quality accommodation so adding a hotel was a logical decision.”

The recent appointment of an awarding winning local chef, Shane Tate has also been a hit with customers.

Overall, The Game Bird seems to have got things just right, and based on what people are saying they have the perfect recipe for long-term success.
