This Was a Great All Round Performance - Says Tim Smith

Tim Smith says his side’s victory over 10 wicket win Driffield is the perfect response from their heavy defeat the previous week.

Smith who was the top scorer on the day with an unbeaten 60 praised the performance of Beverley Town Cricket Club 3rd XI after they demolished Driffield at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

Speaking after the match, Smith said;

“I was looking for a reaction from the lads after the shocking defeat last week, and I certainly got one.”

“Brad Dobson and James Emery were a different class today and showed what they can do when comes to bowling taking three wickets each in this game.”

Beverley won the toss and put Driffield into bat. The visitors, however, offered little resistance as they imploded scoring just 110 and lasting only 21 over’s.

In reply, Beverley reached the target of 111 without losing a wicket Smith and Rob Fish made light work of the run chase on a perfect wicket for batting.

Smith said;

“At no point was we in any trouble, the pitch was ideal for batting. Fish got off to an aggressive start which set the tone of how we would chase down the target, and I just played my game.”

Smith has been in good form this season and is confident his side has what it takes to win the Division 2 title, he added;

“This was a great all round performance from the team and puts us in an ideal position going into the next round of fixtures.”

“It sets us up perfectly for the visit of Hull next week and all being well and should a few results go our way we may well be top of the league by the close of play.”

“I am of course very pleased with my ‘chanceless’ 60 – it was my third highest score of the season, but I do not think I have played better than that so far.”
