Local Les Ford stopped his taxi and got out to clear up after someone had left a lot of litter on Beverley Westwood.

Les who is also a Beverley Lion was on route taking a customer to Walkington, but on his way back, he noticed the mess that had been left behind, he said;

“The rubbish was left on the Westwood about three-quarters of the way up Newbald Road heading out towards Walkington from Beverley.”

“I was just taking a passenger to Walkington and noticed the rubbish as we drove past.”

“There were some lads pushing a car of who looked as if they could have been drinking but can’t say that they had anything to do with it.”

“So dropped off and went back & cleaned it up as anyone with a love of Beverley would have done.”

There was some good news for Les though after the kind-hearted citizen got a reward for his efforts, he added;

“But it’s not all bad as they left 12 cans of Carling, pity, I only drink Coke!”

With the warm-weather, more people are likely to go outside and have and enjoy the weather. Litter on the Beverley

Westwood is not only an eye sore but can cause problems for the beloved cattle that roam freely around the pastures.

After seeing the litter Les posted pictures on the social network platform Facebook sparking calls from locals to flush out those who were guilty of discarding their waste.

For now, the rubbish has been removed, and the cows can now enjoy the pastures without the risk of injury, the next time I see Les, I will be sure to buy him a coke.
