Beverley boys Alex Barrett, Hugo Petch, Morgan Gray, Joshua Heng and Tom Wright, taking part in Operation Lifestyle, have raised an amazing £175 at their first two fundraising events.

Calling themselves ‘The Minecrafters’ the Beverley lads washed cars, at Beverley Baptist Church, and sold buns, at Beverley Minster, raising vital funds for local charity Beverley Against Poverty.

Forming their Lifestyle Team after a visit from Humberside Police to Minster Primary School the boys decided that helping out in the community would be a great way to occupy their time in the summer holidays.

The Minecrafters are keen to raise money for charity as well as doing good within their community.

As part of the project, they are going to entertain the residents at Keldgate Manor, put together posters and leaflets on Internet Safety and help out at the Charity Family Fun Day at the Tiger Inn Beer Festival.

Joshua explained his reasons for wanting to take part in Operation Lifestyle, he said;

“I want to do Lifestyle because it gives me an opportunity to help my community. Another reason why I am doing this is because of my musical talent, so I thought it would be nice to perform to people along with my mates.”

Operation Lifestyle is a great way for kids to do something useful with their summer holidays. As parents, we are hoping the boys gain a lot from their experience.
