Labour Party candidate Margaret Pinder who will be standing for MP in Beverley and Holderness in the May elections says she is putting the Conservatives on notice.
The Beverley Town Councillor and former Mayor of Beverley wrote on her Facebook Page, Margaret Pinder for Beverley and Holderness;
“I can win Beverley and Holderness for Labour. The electorate is tired of this coalition and the damage it is doing to the country.”
“Local people are worried about the NHS, bad choices being made about local development both in Beverley and across East Yorkshire, and environmental issues such as flood defences and local energy.”
“The Conservatives want to think this is a safe seat. I’m putting them on notice – it’s not safe anymore.”
Beverley and Holderness is currently a Conservative seat held by Graham Stuart, who will be aiming to win it once-again and spend his third term in office representing the area.
Back in 2010 the Labour Party made a fatal mistake by drafting in Ian Saunders, a candidate from Sheffield that despite him saying, he had plans to move to the area still to this day resides in South Yorkshire.
Margaret Pinder will, however, present a different proposition for the time served MP who has maintained a very high profile in his patch and on a national level.
After spending a spell as the Mayor in Beverley Margaret is well known locally not just in Beverley but throughout the East Riding of Yorkshire.
With plenty of concerns nationally regarding health, energy, immigration and employment the consensus is that this General Election may indeed prove to be one of the most interesting yet.
The most-recent opinion polls give the Labour Party a slight edge, but it is not until Christmas that a clearer picture to how the nation will vote will start to emerge.
