A Community Safety and Crime Prevention Event held at the Tesco supermarket in Beverley proved to be a big success.

Officers from the Beverley Neighbourhood Policing Team were on hand to offer crime prevention advice and to security code cycles with Billy the Burglar making an appearance to help spread the crime prevention message too!

PCSO Rachel Matthews said;

“The event worked really well, and we got a really good response from the public. It is great be able to hold these events in local supermarkets as we can reach so many members of the community.

“The cycle coding was very successful, with over 20 bikes and mobility scooters being brought along to be coded.

“I want to thank Tesco for their continued support and hope that we will be able to hold more events like this in the future.”

Tesco’s Community Champion, Dave Ryley, said;

“We welcome this type of event to the store as it really helps us be involved in helping reduce crime locally.”

“It was also an opportunity for one of the local Lifestyle teams, The Minecrafters, from Beverley Minster (Alex, Joshua, Morgan, Tom and Hugo) to be involved.”

“As well as handing out Internet safety leaflets along side the police on Friday, they have been involved in several other events this summer, including car washes, bun stalls and music shows for residents at Beverley Grange and Keldgate Manor.”

“The money raised will be going to the Lullaby Trust and Beverley against Poverty.”

“I want to thank everyone involved in the event for their efforts and look forward to Tesco’s continued support of local community events like this.”
