Beverley ARLC head coach Pat Howdle got his first match of the new season off to a perfect start after his side came from behind to beat Ryder Rabitohs.
Speaking after the game that saw the Blue & Golds Get Off To The Perfect Start. The newly appointed coach told HU17.net;
“I am really pleased with the result but we still have plenty to work on. I thought our defence was excellent for the full 80 minutes of the game.”
“Ryder Rabitohs had some very good individual players but they struggled to break our line and they lacked the fitness of Beverley.”
Fitness is not something that is lacking in the Beverley squad, he added;
“All the Beverley team are in very good shape after a hard three month pre season working on fitness.”
Ahead of their next fixture Howdle faces some issues but they are sort of problems most coaches would welcome.
“The big problem I have is the squad is very strong this year and we had a lot of players missing because of injury, holidays, weddings who will be available next week so I have some tough decisions to make,” said Howdle.
Lee Stevens who missed Beverley’s opener due to a wedding knows that getting back into the team could prove tricky he said;
“I am back for Saturday’s game, after the lads performance against Ryder I am not expecting to walk right back into the team, we have a very strong squad this season.”
